1: WhatIHave = I just have a Computer, Reason 2 software, a Soundcraft 8-channel mixer, 2 JBL speakers, Radio cassette player, 2 Shure microphones and their respective cables and stands and of course my room
Name = Justo
question = I live in Nairobi, KENYA and am currenlty planning to move into my new house this coming week on Wednesday. I wanted to do a studio album in my house. I wanted to find out if it\'s sfe to use an RCA cable to connect my PC nd the mixer. Secondly I really need your help as far as getting myself started in recording. I have done an album before in another studio as an artist but not a Producer.
Could it be possible to give me a few tips on doing the recording, coz I haven\'t studied for it as such, but I do have hands on experience. Lastly is there anything else I have left out that I can use if there\'s no RCA cable?
By the way I really love your website you guys are the bomb!!
RCA cables will work as long as the connections are correct. As far as producing goes, producing is kind of a mix between an artist and an engineer...but there aren't many tips to give other than the obvious like make sure everyone is well rehearsed before you start recording, spend some time listening to the songs and make changes if they need it (My band's last record we had a producer come in to work with us and he helped us eliminate a few extra choruses that were just filler)
The best tip I can give for recording is to not be afraid to try something new. Often when people get started they are concerned with "is this the right way to do this" or "how should it be done" Just trust your ears and take your time.
Good look with your project!

To tell you the truth it won't matter too much, just make sure you get a sound card made for professional audio (24 bit etc) and be sure to check the website of the company you pick for compatibility with your system.
