Today I got a good question from Clive - he was having trouble playing an mp3 file due to incompatible sampling rates. I know many of you will hit this issue from time to time, so here’s a great solution…

First, here’s Clive’s question:

Hi Ken,

Hope you don’t mind my asking a quick question as it looks like your the guy that would know:

If I have an .mp3 file , a podcast say, that won’t play in a Flash Player as this player has a problem playing files that are not multiples of 11.025khz ( e.g. 22.050 kHz or 44.100khz) and my current file is not one of those. Is there some software (preferably free where I can open my existing file and convert it to one of the examples kHz-wise?

I have Audacity and Propaganda mixing software but they don’t seem able to do it as far as I can tell.

Any help greatly appreciated.
